On PK now and hardly an episode of liveline goes by without some mention of the disease.

TV isn't much better. Its a common topic on the LLS.

Why is the state broadcaster so obsessed with cancer?

One in 3 people die of it, so there is definitely a market. The Daily Mail realised this years ago.

Because there is hardly a family in the country who hasn't had someone suffer with that awful disease.

Even though you grossly overstated the amount of coverage it gets, it is of some interest to most people.

I agree it affects everyone but that doesn't mean everyone wants to listen to items covering the disease so often. I don't think I overstated the coverage RTÉ gives it.

They cover it more than neighbouring broadcasters.

That is just not true. Show me some evidence that it is mentioned on most episodes of Liveline.

    Ah come on Skid.

You're a regular on the Liveline thread here.

How often do we see the phrases such as Misery Monday etc....?

"RTÉ gives you cancer" - it also gives you Liveline which is worse.

I haven't posted on the Liveline thread in nearly a year, to be honest.

But Misery comes in many forms, not just Cancer.

It is not "a disease", it's a vast family of diseases like "infections" or "cardiovascular illness" or "respiratory disorders".
