anyone else get an email about a free 30-day Playstation Plus.

Entered my code, a pop-up then tells me if i wished i could stop automatic renewal in my options, but was then asked for credit card details to proceed with download. So its not exactly a free 30-days, they probably expecting loads customers to not even read the popup and then get billed unawares until its too late.

The 30 days are free so that's free ps+.
If people don't bother reading the pop up then it's their own fault.

so how is it not free?

It's free but is really an introductory offer and should be labelled as such to avoid confusion probably

my point being that, they should give the 30 days without asking for my credit card details, and when the 30 days deadline is nearing ask if i want to upgrade.

It's the exact same way that Netflix, Spotify, and pretty much every other subscription service works. I really don't see what the problem is

From the title I thought it was another it's not free content each month because you have to pay for it at the start, there should a "trial" in that.

The way i see it, they should have said in the email that there were conditions:

but as you can see there were none, i had to sign in, enter the 12 digits, and then after reading the lengthy popup, i was taken to the download page where i was asked to enter credit card details.

Sorry, but did you even look at the rest of the email?

And when you click that, it links to this: http://ie.playstation.com/legal/detail/item540140/PLAYSTATION%C2%AEPLUS-30-DAY-TRIAL/
Which tells you all you need to know.
I don't see the issue with the trial when they very clearly tell you what will happen when your trial ends.

I got the 30 free days nearly a month ago. Just click back into your psn account and uncheck the box that says auto renewal. That way, your cc won't be charged after the 30 days are up.

And would it be a tragedy if you had to pay for 3 months of Playstation Plus, it's an absolute gem of a service!

Do the games that are downloaded using PS+ during the 3 months still work if you decide not to renew again.

They only work with a valid subscription - no subscription = no games.

There is already a PS+ thread, you can vent there.
