    How're ye lads,

Started a new job on the 16th of Nov and didn't get the P45 from my old job until this week.

As I've been paying emergency tax, how will it work over the new year? Will I still send my P45 as normal?

I would still give in the P45.

It's probably not in time to get take off emergency tax for this year, so you need to wait for your P60 and then apply for a balancing statement (P21) in the new year.

Rather than wait til 2013, give revenue a call now before they close up for the holidays. Once we enter 2013 the P45 from 2012 won't be any use anyway. Ring revenue, give them your PPS number, and your new employers registration number. They will then be able to send out a new cert to your employer (they will prob have already done this for 2013 by now anyway, but by phoning them you at least can be sure that your credits will be allocated correctly).

Then as Leftblank says, put in a P21 in the new year and any overpayments you made will be given to you in a rebate.
