Hey guys this is an interesting question.

I was originally looking at a fully insulated passive slab this would sort all my problems, but unfortunately it is not cost effective for my build due to a few issues so we are having to go with a strip.

How do most people over come the cold bridge , quinn lite blocks at the top?
insulate the inside and out of the strip?
    any information will be great.

    thanks

A quinnlite or equal to the inner leaf, bear in mind the quinnlite has to be kept dry. What can also help, but it needs to be detailed correctly is to continue the insulation down to the base of the foundation. Not suitable for all types of construction however.

yea were looking at building with a timber frame. so out leaf would be block work. and quinn lite give a detailing of running the dpc under the block then sealing the outside with a water proof membrane like a bitchmen sealer or something similar.

iv also been looking at marmox thermoblocks for the inside detailing. but they are not cheap. and i think we would have to do alot of work to make the sit right as there not a full sized block as there dimension is 100x600x65

If Block built house there are products on the market for this problem. Such as Marmox and Foamglass. These, if built correctly and insulation fixed correctly in the cavity will eliminate a coldbridge at the slab
