Are they? They seem to change a lot in RTE every few years. The late late show had 3 different presenters on the late, childrens televison has had several since the late 80's at this point, sports analysis dosen't change at all. I came across a video one day of what was then Network 2 round the very early 2000's and noticed that there used to be presenters that you would actually see presenting what show was just about within the next few seconds now its just a voice over but Network/RTE2 has that scraped. I wonder was there any controversy with presenters in RTE?

You're talking about continuity announcers - they're gone from everywhere apart from ITV as far as I know. Pat Kenny and Thelma Mansfield started in that gig (also Gaybo's OH, Kathleen Watkins). I think it used to be a way of seeing if someone could handle live TV. Probably a money issue.

RTE are probably in a lot of money issues lately since the whole Fr. Kevin Reynolds Vs Prime time and also the Sean Gallagher presidency run vs Frontline.
I wonder what happened to those continuity announcers.

I think you must mean UTV. I have never seen a continuity announcer on ITV

Why, RTE has had money issues ever since this recession began... ;);)

The TV Room has quite a few screen grabs of in-vision continuity on RTE1 and RTE2/Network 2 from down the years - you might recognise some of the faces. ;);)

    Julian Simmons.

In-vision continuity used to be commonplace in most ITV regions, but many dropped it in the 1980s and very few continued after 1993, Carlton and Westcountry both launched without it.

whoever is at the switch tonite should be given their p45

failed to get back from adds for the announcement of the sports personality of the year , katie was already holding the trophy when the feed returned , to add insult to injury , they cut to adds twice during her acceptance speech , saw less than twenty seconds of the whole centre piece of the show
