Best advise is team up with someone who's into it and learn from them. Its how most guys learn. Nice county to shhot i can emagine.
Depends what kind of shooting you want to do.
Team up with someone. Theres bound to be a gent on this who will meet up with you and show you what you need to know in person.
    Hope goes well for you

What kind of shooting are you planning and doing, where are you at in terms of a gun license and so on? Mayo offers some fantastic shooting so youre in a good place for a start, my advice would be to join a local gun club and see if some members will bring you out and show you the ropes. Shooting is not that easy to just get straight into like some other sports; dogs, guns, insurance, permissions are all essentials and cannot be just picked up like a pair of running shoes, thats why a gun club is the ideal place to start.

if you know a few farmers in mayo that would give you permission i would be happy to go out with you as i have no permission up there, but i spend most of my time in castlebar. I have deer licence and all so nothing is out of the question really, but id be just as happy after foxes, rabbits or what ever.

It should also be pointed out that the user has not been online since: 21-12-2012 00:47. This means he has only seen 1 post.

I will check this again in a few days.

From the shooting that I have done in Mayo, woodcock is the main quarry, and some pheasants, and in parts, a lot of the cover is very heavy. You'll need a good dog to start off with( probably a springer for that type of country). Sometimes the shooting can be excellent, but what ever you get will be well deserved.
