    Hi all,
I'm looking for a good, tough, pocket-sized LED torch. What do you suggest, that's better than the usual petrol-station variety?

    regards

LED LENSER. I have the p7 for humting and everything else, fits in the pocket or on the belt nicely and is 200 lumens, about 200m beem. Its a great torch and is about €60. My bro is off backpacking and i bought him the p3 which is tiny for going away, he has it on his belt since he left and loves it too, 1 AAA battery powers it and he said its ideal to just have all the time, it was about €25.

If you want something big but not as pricey to start with tesco have a decent enough D cell led torch for about €20 with a cree led. Aluminium like the lensers so should be pretty hard wearing

    Hi there
I have a P14 in work and a 2cell Mag LED in my car. Mags are great but weigh a ton and the P14 is excellent but expensive (work paid for it) and spares are hard to come by (one lens replaced already). I'd want something short but fairly tough, that is no longer than a hand span.

    regards

The led lenser P2 is a nice light weight torch. The led lenser M5 is brighter with 3 modes (low, high&strobe ) uses 1 AA battery.

I have the p7 also its a beast of a torch with a poweful beam.

The cheapest led lenser is the k3 keyring torch approx 12 euro.
Only negative is that they take 4 AG13 batteries.
But they can be bought cheaply in the 2 euro shop.
For such a small torch is still punchs a great beam (14 lumens).
I keep with my keys so always with me.

Thumbs up for all led lenser torchs, good quality, long battery life, well engineered.

    Going the other way. Budget!

I bought these as gifts and compared them to my p7. They throw further and the light output its nearly identical. Probably both q5s.

Buy ten for the price of a p7 in case you lose one. Or five..

I have great love for peltz head-torches. Use them for caving, cycling and hiking at night and generally lighting stuff. Very reliable and hard wearing, plenty of light and batteries last a good long time too. I find it much handier to mount the light on my head and have both hands free than to have to tie one hand up with holding the torch and then having to do everything one-handed.

Also, lights have been discussed at length over on the cycling forum. This is the biggest thread I think; http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=62463756.
Admittedly most of these lights are designed primarily for cycling applications but lumens work just the same on foot.

M7 led lenser is a far better torch than the P7, has extra strobe, flashing and Morse facilities. I use one as a bicycle lamp and would rate it better than any motorcycle headlamp on strobe. There is a rechargeable version which is almost double the price. The AAA version is good enough as the batteries last ages.

They are a bit more expensive than the M7 but worth every cent of it.

If you want a good lifetime and reliable LED flashlight then I recommend the following 2 I have bought through this site with 10% and 20% off. I'm sure they will have a sale or code shortly if you sign up for a newsletter.

    http://goinggear.com/sunwayman-c20c-cree-xm-l-u2-2-x-cr123-1-x-18650-450-lumen-led-side-switch-flashlight.html

I got the C20C for xmas and really like the interface and as ever, useable in one hand. Same for the V10R below without strobe and SOS features.

    http://goinggear.com/sunwayman-v10r-cree-xm-l-u2-variable-output-1-cr123-led-flashlight.html

Both tail stand and work as light bulb in a blackout. use rechargeable CR123 and get the max lumens (500) out of them. Have Ledlenser T7 before these and use the T7 for a baton on me walks! You will not notice the C20C or V10R on your belt (weight and size wise) and that is why they are the best EDC flashlights I have.

Buy right, buy once - Buy S***e, buy twice.

i would recommend this for everyday use - i have number of those, because every time i show it to somebody they want to buy it from me - great and cheap all rounder

    http://dx.com/p/romisen-mxdl-rc-g2-cree-flashlight-black-1xaa-3607

glass lens - no scratches, aluminum reflector and body - will last forever, powered from single AA battery - can be easily replaced without waiting to charge (18650, 14500) or having full set of batteries, water proof, shock proof (both within a reason) battery last quite long ad there is plenty of light, all that for under a €10 delivered

or M7 if you want more functions and can spend more €

    How big is your pocket?

I bring a LED Lenser P5 in the jeans pocket, used when going home from the pub. VERY bright, very small size, and it only needs 1 AA battery(I use a rechargable). You'd forget it was in your pocket.

If you are going for longer walks or camping etc. , the LED Lenser P7 is a great torch. A bit big for your daily use in a pocket though. It's a nice, stumpy torch.

On my keys, I've the LED Lenser K2, tiny and very very useful.
