I see there are a couple of topics on this already but any advice would be great. We are about to rent a large house about 3000sq ft with under floor heating down stairs and rads up stairs. The house is owned by a guy who fits heating systems and he has told me that it uses about 2000 ltrs of oil a year.
Does this sound right as we have never used this system before. Do we need to leave it on 24/7 or can you use it on a timer seting it for a few hours a day.

Usage of oil will depend on how well the house is insulated, heating controls and weather.

At least one stat per room. Set back stats are also good. As in it will drop the temperature of each room by 4-6 degrees during the night and brining the temperature back during peak demands.

Underfloor as to be left on 24/7. Think about it, it has to heat slabs of concrete to heat the room. So a lot of energy used on the first heat up. Rooms that are not used should be set no lower than 16 and 14 the lowest setting max.

I presume since he is an installer he give you a little low down/training on how to use the underfloor ?

So how well is the house insulated and have you got good heating controls ?
