There's a new series Racing Legends starting on BBC2 Thursday 27th at 8pm. The first episode stars Patrick Stewart retracing Stirling Moss's career with interviews and archive footage. Stewart also drives Stirling's 1957 Vanwall.

    Should be worth a watch.

Cool , I've seen Colin profiles before, but who doesn't want to see more of Colin Mac Crash?

They seem to have changed the schedule now. The Jackie Stewart profile is on tonight. No sign of the McRae one :(

I enjoyed both of the programs so far but I wanted to punch James Martin in the face every time he mispronounced "formula" as "formulee" :D

Likely never. All sorts of rumours about why it was pulled with the most likely being that it didn't get passed by the BBC compliance department after the very recent Jimmy Savile debacle. They are, understandably, very conservative about who they give tribute shows to, and since McRae killed 2 kids along with himself and another adult by acting the maggot in a helicopter it was probably decided to drop it.

I thought I was the only one that noticed that! I`m sure the BBC will show the McRae one at some point, after all they enlisted the help of a certain "Ken Block" to show them how Colin influenced his driving style.

Story has made it to the Scottish Sun now. http://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/scotsol/homepage/news/4727472/Colin-McRae-tribute-show-is-axed-over-backlash-fear.html

Hopefully they commission some more episodes. Plenty more British drivers deserving of a show. Clark, Surtees, G Hill, Hawthorn, Hunt, Mansell, Burns. Many more besides if they included 'foreign' drivers. Would love to see a program with Murray Walker profiling Nuvolari.

It was enjoyable but I found it a bit too much about Chris Hoy than Colin. Enjoyable all the same.

It was well worth the wait, absolutely fantastic! He is missed, but his spirit will live on in the world of motorsport forever.

    "If in doubt, flat out!"

This programme could've been several hours long, some great notable moments from the Dave Richards row & the team literally standing out on stage to slow his pace, his raw determination, pig-headedness and the slow down and ultimate stalling of his professional WRC career.

I also think Jimmy McRae is an absolute gent & still clearly well fit to handle most machinery too.

    Ya too much Chris Hoy

Colin could of least of showed up to the filming  instead of letting Chris hog the lime light.

Just in case anyone doesn't get it I'm being sarcastic.

Thought it was very good myself. Hopefully using a household name like Hoy will gather some interest in rallying again in the UK as its dead at the moment. His determination to succeed at all costs came across quite well.

In saying that, a lot of the older footage is taken directly from the Duke dvds about McRea.

He has sparked interest anyway as one of Colin news storys is in the top 10 most read news storys today on the BBC website.

He was a phenomenal talent, and it is such a tragedy to think that both he and Richard Burns are both dead.

He may be over 5 years dead, but his legacy will live on forever.

Can you watch BBC i player in Ireland without using a proxy server?

Not even using a proxy as far as I know. I pay for VPN service to access the iPlayer as it's so picky.

I've watched all these over two mornings, really really enjoyable stuff. There have been such tragedies in motorsport over the years...the Jackie Stewart one profiled just how dangerous the sport was & how drivers were regularly killed.

Slightly of topic but when you mention about all the people killed i came across this video the other night. An interview with mansell and piquet recorded late last year.
Mansell rekons theres over 20 people since he started not about anymore.

Would love to see another series like this, as there is plenty of scope to take this further when you have British Racing Legends like Nigel Mansell, Barry Sheene and James Hunt to profile.

Immensely enjoyable, the BBC know how to make a good motorsport documentary.
