Geometric pattern floor tiles

    Hi there

I've been on the hunt for bathroom floor tiles that aren't one of a million shades of beige (sweet sufferin jaysus).

My ideal is a geometric pattern along the lines of beautiful Moroccan cement tiles, such as http://www.mosaicos-del-sur.com/images/ensemble/1337254713.jpg

I came across a place in Waterford that supplies these but given that cement tiles themselves are quite thick (naturally) I don't think they're going to work in the area I need them.

Has anyone ever come across this type of pattern (or similar idea) but in a thinner ceramic or porcelain tile? I've tried a lot of places in recent months, (small local places and bigger chains) and haven't found anything even remotely interesting. So depressing.

    All tip-offs hugely appreciated! :)

    Hi
I have not seen any floor ceramics for many years with pattern - sorry.
Have you considered having a handmade mosaic made in the pattern you want? That could look amazing!

I like your style OP. :D

We are moving back to Ireland in a few of months and have been searching the net for cement tiles in Ireland. No luck.
So we'll be bringing ours from Belgium for hallway and kitchen. They are 1.2cm tick though, but oh so beautiful.

    Good luck in your search.

Tom Doyle supplies in camolin co wexford supply a range of tiles called original style and they come in various styles like those you pictured although maybe a testament to the times we live in I haven't laid those in the last couple of years because they would be quite expensive, another alternative would be a shop called fired earth in dalkey extremely expensive but there tiles are excellent.
    Good luck with you're search.

    Hi

Fired Earth have encaustic tiles at 1.8cm thickness available in Ireland.......http://www.firedearth.com/tiles/tile-type/quarry-encaustic
Tilestyle certainly carried a huge range in the past....but they are not on the website.....but maybe they could be ordered in?
    Good Luck!

Hi - well, I got some samples from http://besttile.ie/jc/ - based in Waterford. They're beautiful, but thick (nearly 1.5 kilos each!). I'll press my builder and see if there might be a way (I reeallllllly want them!).

    Anyway, the search continues... :)

Jesus, just looking at that Fired Earth site - 8.99 per tile?? Sterling? Holy smokes. Massive difference between that and the other site I linked to. Lordy.

Versatile in navan can supply similar from a company called original style (check out the original style website, they have some really beautiful and unusual stuff) They are expensive though!

I think they may do a cheaper alternative but not as much choice!

A lot of their stuff is over priced so if you do decide to visit, haggle!

They are seriously beautiful tiles! - hope you can use them - its great to see people using more unusual materials :-)
Please post photos if you ever do get to use them.

Have you thought about visiting a savage yard for reclaimed tiles? They usually have tiles with designs and quality you wouldn't find nowadays. Might be worth a visit, those places are a treasure trove for things like that.

Well, in case anyone's interested, I ended up going with Top Cer Victorian style ceramic tiles. Tilestyle are the Irish agent. The tiles aren't individually patterned, but can be cut to make beautiful patterns and then sold in sheets. From www.topcer.com

    Waiting on delivery now.

My Morrocan cement dream will have to wait :)
