I just came across this -

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/4092406

Main pic - a view of the car (except for the front end) from the other side of the yard.

2nd pic - a crooked view of the back end of the car from inside the kitchen.

3rd pic - a view of a spooky old house out the passenger window

    WTF?

What in the name of jaysus were they thinking when they uploaded those pics??

The ad is over a month old but it is a prime example of how poorly some people take photos of cars etc that they are selling. Taking a photo is not that hard.

Has anyone else come across something similar to this?

I know exactly what they were thinking

    'hide the front end damage'...

Yep, I concur with Datrz, it seems to be part of cunning plan to hide front end damage

If by cunning you mean blindingly obvious!

Maybe the pictures are being honest, and the broken wall in the last pic is the reason for the front being hidden in the others:P

Maybe they just stuck up photos of a fence, a door handle and a tree they had on the laptop.:D

    Thinking that myself

He/She has been kind of honest if it's the wall that the front end took out.

Same time though even if it wa sperfect milage is awful high for a 2004, wouldn't pay over 3k

Bit ot but is 4k not on the dear side for a 2.2 petrol engine with 182k miles on the clock?

    Only by the Irish mindset.

    Only by the Irish mindset.

4k+ for a car with 180,000+ miles which is damn near 300k kilimoters, i can think of much better ways of spending 4k on a car :)

+ The fella can't even take a picture are you gonna trust him to service and maintain a car properly for that kinda milage ? :pac:

I didn't say the price was ok, I said saying that 180k is high for an 8 year old Diesel car is the Irish mindset. In most other countries they would be suspicious of a diesel car of that age that had less then that mileage.

The car is nearly 9 years old and at that mileage its about 20,000 miles per year which is normal for a diesel.

Don't all cars implode once they reach 100k???? That's what I've always been told by my uncles friend's cousin-in-law who knows a lot about cars.

The problem isn't milage as most modern cars will do 400k km but it's how they are maintained

Still expensive with a diesel engine for that matter.

It's strange that he/she took a picture of that house because it's been recently bought by the son of a Skoda main dealer in north cork:D Very odd ad though..

Those pictures have got to be a piss take, no one could be that stupid.
Either that or the seller has broken their camera and was looking through all their old pictures for any of them that have at least a gimps of the car.

    A sure, that's nothing.

    Check this ad out: http://www.adverts.ie/car-parts-accessories/beautiful-bmw-for-sale/2361987

And may I mention, that the 3 pictures of the outside of car and the one of the wheel weren't there, when it originally was posted ?? :)

Better yet, the same car is also for sale in Gumtree, not that the ad has more quality: http://www.gumtree.ie/cp-cars-in-dublin/black-bmw-for-sale-435963295

But at least, I confirmed my suspicion from the adverts ad, when I saw the Gumtree ad: It's a bog standard BMW 318i E36 with a bit of pink fluff and different wheels one side to the other :P ..... RUN !!

    /M

It is true, its absoltely fine with that mileage ... if car serviced properly ... that "IF " is big issue, as in Ireland people usually do not service their car in time.

Recently myself was fixing opel '07, 1 owner, since new, ... 90 k km on clock ... such car should be in good condition ... but .. only 2 services since new ... ... as owner (female ) confessed (she was too busy to do more often. ) , and in God know what garage , which didnt changed oil filter ... it was falling apart, when took it out... engine had oil starvation, leaking/cracked waterpump in to engine ( was suspecting cracked head or blown headgasket first).... who said opel engines are bad ?? after replacing headgasket, skimmed and tested head, new waterpump car went good.

... so id say 180 k miles is really big mileage for Irish car, unless there is valid service history.

Its even more strange when the location says Limerick:eek:

Then again the pics could have been taken at a relation or friends house.

Random photos taken during the summer reused in an ad?

    The background looks very green.

My favourite is an ad from last year when someone wanted 7k or so for a car and the pic was of a car covered in snow, you couldn't even see the colour...

I'll see if I can find it again.

I have noticed that 9/10 when a car has damage and its mentioned in the advert that its never shown in a photo.

The worst are when it says small/minor damage in the front, and the front looks like it hit a tree at 60(or more) km/h. But at least they put pictures
    up.
