Bears a resemblance to a washing machine with cover removed.

Bears no resemblance to an RB211

I don't think you have watched enough of the video, the APU looks like a washing machine but that definitely looks and sounds like an RB211 to me!

    Apologies.

My next door neighbour sometimes takes out his drumkit to practice in the summer.
THis would give him some competition.:)

Clearly the engine itself is not running as in burning fuel. It's just being cranked by the GPU. Otherwise the tent, most of the stuff into the garden and all the people would be flying through the air in no time. As for the exhaust, well let's just say there wouldn't be much left of anything directly behind it. Then there's the noise of a running engine.

Love the clackety clack of the fan blades as the engine winds down. Brings back memories oddly enough. Before anyone asks they are deliberately loose. Once turning at high speed they lock into position.

I think it is fired up alright just no where near full thrust, you can see the puff of smoke on start-up and the heat haze out of the exhaust, but then again only an idiot would put their their head and hand in a jet that's shutting down so maybe your right!

This was discussed either on airliners.net or pprune..... it deffo was running on fuel but only barely ticking over as the cage??? it was mounted on was only for transport use therefore could not handle a 211 above idle.....

I think you are overestimating the suction of an RB211 at idle. It clearly is running at idle. You can see the light off and they have the APU air shut off during the video and the engine is still turning.
