Is some sporting body or Clare County Council actively advertising for cycling events to be held there?
These are 2 fairly big events to be held next year.

I'd love to know how they get over the complete closure of 85miles of road in the middle of summer rather than a rolling closure.
Fair do's to whoever it is that is getting these events for Clare.

Roads aren't closed for Rás na mBan.

Sky Etape Hibernia was cancelled this year as the organiser (IMG Challenger World ) pulled out. Haven't heard if it's on for 2013.

You can go the coast roads in clare (ie up Corkscrew hill, through the Burren, Lisdoonvarna, Doolin, Liscannor, Lahinch, Miltown Malbay, Spanish Point, Doonbeg, Kilkee, Carraigholt , Kilbaha and then back throuhg Querrin, Moyasta, Kilrush, Kilimer, Kilmurry, Labasheda, Ennis and not meet many cars as these roads for the most part are not the main thoroughfare to the Clare penninsula) plus the scenery is all coastal with cliffs and both Atlantic/Sannon views......great place for cycling...

I am from Clare and love it .....Up the Banner !

The etape hibernia is gone, and from what I've read, unlikely to return. Someone either goofed up, or made the wrong cynical gamble, and decided to hold it on the same day as the Sean Kelly Tour, which was always going to be a disaster. A shame in a way, as I did the first one which I thoroughly enjoyed, though more down to the excellent scenery and fabulous support from the local people than the organisers. Good news is the fabulous scenery and welcome for cyclists is still very much there, and the Lahinch, Cliffs of Moher, Black Head, Corkscrew run remains one of my favourite routes. Probably won't make it down until Easter now, mores the pity.

Just head out with the Burren CC. They help/ organise a few charity cycles/ sportives and unlike the sky one the money actually goes to charity. They are a sound group with some great routes, and my favourite from last year was overtaking motorcycle tourists with them at 70 because they got in the way outside Fanore.
