Really should have checked before I started but I've the phone rooted now which in itself is a big plus

I have an Xperia play R800i sim locked to vodafone when I checked *#*#7378423#*#* I can see I have Bootloader unlock allowed = No

Was planning on flashing cyanogen to it but looks like I can't unlock the bootloader to do so, what options do I have if any ?

Find your phones forum on XDA developers and ask the question there TBH.

It is still possible to unlock the bootloader if unlock is not allowed in the menu with some Sony phones I think via other methods and they support some ROMS that don't change the Kernel without unlocking bootloader.

But best to checkout XDA forum for your phone as the people with the expertise for your phone will be there.

Did you have any luck with this? Have someone with the same phone on Vodafone wanting to get a custom ROM but same problem as you. Can't find a definite answer on xda either.

Not yet been distracted over the last few days, but will update if I get anywhere with it.
