the lights in my b7 a4 are very poor especially the dims. they are the standard ones. they are perhaps a bit out of focus but I want to change them anyway.

    http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/4313364

what kind of bulbs are in this a4? i would like ones like these but dont really understand what hid is? can they be put straight into my car or does it require a costly changeover?

would the dims and fulls be seperate bulbs in my car or are they the same bulb?

HID are third party xenon kits.
You can get cheap kits that splatter light and blind other drivers or more expensive kits that focus light better.
8000K is very high and won't give as much light as halogen etc.,.5-6000K is around the normal which gives a soft white light.
You'd be talking about €100 for the kit plus fitting etc and depending where you live it should be easy enough to find someone to fit them as well.

5-6000k will still be blue. You want no more than 4300k for pure white light.

i dont want blue blue but wouldnt mind the tiniest fraction of a blue tint but no more. how much would fitting be. im in cork btw if anybody knows any company.

yes but i would want them fitted aswell. realistically i want the crowd who i buy them off to fit them at the same time instead of having to go to two places.

If you can change a bulb, you can fit hid's..

they just plug into the connectors for the old bulbs.. then just use the cable ties that come with them to tie the ballasts to somewhere neat..

    Couldn't be easier

I think you might need canbus compatible ones though for Audi?

canbus are part of the kit that are compatible with the electrics in your car and don't give warnings on your console for lights not working etc.
I know for BMWs the hid kits need to be canbus compatible to ensure this ..not so sure about audis but someone on here would know :)

this guy does fitting and a 2 year warranty..bit more expensive but the better ones normally are

I'd be slow to fit them unless you had projector headlights. Might blind other drivers, I have yet to see a set in reflector lights (which I think the B7 A4 has) that look correct.

I know you can get bulbs now that don't splatter for projectors

hid4us.co.uk but they're expensive..I'd assume others have them as well though..at least I'd hope so..was thinking about getting them in my car as well

at the back of the normal bulbs there is a case that fits in i presume to stop water/muck getting in. will i still be able to get this on? is there anyone in cork who installs them.
do you need seperate ones for:
    the headlights
    the fogs
the fulls (or could these be just left the way they are.

any fear of the things going up in fire?

Very true. Nothing screams 'I'm a wanker' like a set of after-factory HID bulbs.

    No they are not.

    B6 are projector lamps.

    B7 halogen's are reflector's, unless the car came specc'ed with factory xenons & DRL's

no a poor set of HID bulbs...properly set up no one would know the difference..provided your car wasn't pre 2000 or so :)

I have a set from these guys, 4300k colour temperature so they look like regular halogens. They are every so slightly whiter in tint but you'll barely tell the difference. Improved the light output by maybe 20-40% i'd say, hard to tell. Take about 10 seconds to warm up, looks cool while doing so.

They don't dazzle other drivers, haven't got a flash from anyone in 18 months.
