Hi there fellow F&F boards members

If any of you on here bank with Permanent TSB and have open24 account, be careful!!

Got emails there recently saying that my account had been closed for 'security reasons', if I was the rightful owner, retype my details to reactivate account....

It's all a HOAX!! I rang permanent tsb to confirm.... the emails all look very legit though so you could (and I nearly was!!) dupped!!!

    Be careful out there..

I just got one purporting to be from Bank of Ireland's 365online service, but containing a stealth link to who knows who/where.

Here's the plain text content, with '***' inserted into the links so that they don't actually work and generate traffic from here!
Your Bank of Ireland account has become inactive.

    Dear customer,
Your Bank of Ireland account has become inactive. If you want to continue using our services, please reactivate your account by confirming your billing details.

To reactivate your profile now, please visit our website:

I've been using a program called Mailwasher for years to preview all my e-mail directly from the servers before I ever download it locally.
It reads the e-mails as plain text no matter what format they're written in, and highlights stuff like the stealthy false link in the above quote.

I delete all this sh1te from the e-mail servers.

We get them here too from TSB, the Revenue and Paypal. The Paypal ones look legit, we pass them onto (the real)Paypal now for them to deal with.

ive got quite a few of them even though i only use one bank. they send them to thousands of people hoping to catch one of two people

ive also heard of guys targeting women on facebook that are single and working. one girl at work had a guy contact her and she found out he was using some handsome fella's photo from america. she nearly fell for it. he told her he worked for shell oil and his parents were after dying and had left him 3 million. then asked her for €1000 to pay some fella's in africa that worked for him because they were going to kill him and said he would repay her double when he got inheritance. that after telling her how beautiful she was!!
