In fairness, its been a busy year. I've been hustling hard. This is my second release in 2012, following on from 'The Thinker And The Prover' EP which dropped in February. That got some props. There's been a lash of headline shows, and some riotous fun with Shannon-based rapper God Knows at Electric Picnic. More props. Played sets alongside Om Unit, Ras G, Jape, Luke Vibert, Jonny Dub, Laurent Fintoni, The Redneck Manifesto, Danny Drive Thru, and all the super creative native peoples doing music on these shores. Mad craic. And now its time to birth this new joint, 'The Focusing Effect'. I'm not going to over-contextualize things, so again, here's a list of ten things which were swirling around my space during its production.

Mynameisjohn Biography
mynameisjOhn grew up on the cold hard streets of Ennis, headphones on and hood up. He collected tapes, played basketball and entered radio competitions. Now he DJs and makes beats. In between, he did a lot of shows with a lot of people and practiced everyday. He’s released 3 EPs, which all reference his grá for a dollop of hiphop, electronica, psych rock and straight-up paranoia. He’s been lucky enough to run with a few collectives in his day and has been a part of Kerrynini, 091, the Lung Donors, Club Head Bang Bang, A Love Supreme and Community Skratch. He now performs off a one turntable/mixer/Kaoss Pad set-up and is likely to suffer from repeated neck muscle strain after every show. He puts it all in. And he’s done a lot of shows, supporting folk like Daedelus, Gaslamp Killer, Hudson Mohawke, Onra, Om Unit, Prefuse 73, Benga, The Pharcyde, Andy Votel, Jeremy Ellis, Adebisi Shank and the like. He loves a bit of cheesecake.
