Tyres

I was putting off shelling out for tyres for ages. I measured the thread to be around 2-2.2mm on 3 of them. I was meaning to get them done before the icy roads set in.
As luck would have it I got a puncture on the one good tyre and that forced me to get them done.

Anyway, when I was there they mentioned that the tracking was off and that had caused them to wear out on the inside, the two front tyres were threadbare on the inside!

My story is thankfully uneventful but I wish I had taken a picture of the inside of those tyres in the hope that it would encourage people here to check their's more thoroughly.

Yea, it's recommended to change the tyres at 1.6mm but in my opinion this is virtually a bald tyre. Perfromance - ability to tread water is seriously reduced at this level. Personally I change mine at 3mm. Tracking done every time as well.

Winter tyres on your drive wheels are a plus too in the Winter.

Its recommended to changes tyres at 3mm as this is the minimum thread depth that the tyre will still work effectively according to the manufacturers.

1.6mm is the minimum legal depth, at this point, the manufacturers say that a tyre will only be working at approx 20% of its ability.
