Your TV's might be set to work without an aerial downstairs. Check the menu for something that allows you to chose the source of your signal. It will be something like "through air" (no aerial) or "receiver/aerial" (with aerial).

Are all TVs connected to the same aerial?
Is the aerial indoor or outdoor?
How is the aerial feed split to the TVs?
Is there a distribution amplifier in your setup?

Could please anyone comment if http://www.xtreamer.net/2012/xtreamer-prodigy-black.html would work with Saorview? In theory, it is DVB-T... But may be there is something

MPEG4 video playback (even HD) is nothing to do with ability to manage MPEG4 off air reception in SD & HD.

It's a linux based media player they have added an external USB stick to.

You reckon they have added a dual tuner USB dongle inside the unit?

I had considered doing that myself to my PC.

My concern there would be heat .... those tuners get hot and need a little airflow to keep reasonably cool -- based on my experience with the few I have tried.
    This box is fanless ....

I like the look of it .... dual DTT tuners ..... no Saorview requirements such as MHEG5 though .....

    EDIT:
The dual tuner module is likely to be this
    http://www.xtreamer.co.uk/zubehoer/

    2dfe0d8b9d.jpg

Cheap too at £25 plus post

    EDIT2
    I found the spec sheet
    http://www.xtreamer.co.uk/produkte/xtreamer-prodigy/technische-daten/

It appears the DTT tuner module is an optional extra, as is the HDD for the PVR function ...... although it seems an external drive can also be used to record to.

So you have 4 tvs? Or maybe the downstairs ones are being run off 1 output (maybe labeled "full")?

We often have a perfect reception through our saorview box. However there are times when it freezes, and tells us there is no signal. all other stations on our satelite dish are perfect. Why is saorview so problematic!!!!!

Do you have a proper outdoor aerial for Saorview?

sorry I should have said that we have an outside aerial, and are accessing saorview through a walker saorview box

Your outside aerial mightn't necessarily be the right kind, or pointed the right direction for best Saorview reception.

Was it fitted recently? DIY or pro. installation?

thank you. Aerial was professionally fitted sometime ago.Don't understand why it is perfect sometime and others no signal!!!

You can check for things like dodgy connections or cables. Maybe post your location & a pic of the aerial.

Thank you - you were right, aerial needed to be replaced, and turned to point in a different direction. thanks to everyone for their help

Complete beginner to Saorview here - trying to help a friend get TV in her apartment.

Will this TV http://powercity.ie/?par=10-11-WP2212&pages=1&prod=WP2212&brands=WALKER&image= need anything other than a power supply to work (and receive channels)?

Does it need a box as well and/or an aerial?

What channels are the standard, just the Irish ones?

That tv will receive the Saorview channels if it's connected to a UHF aerial of a kind appropriate to signal conditions at your friend's location.

Some parts of the country can also get a usable UK terrestrial signal & that's the only way you'll get any more than the Saorview channels with this tv, unless you add a satellite (free UK channels available) or cable (subscription only) receiver.

the box is already built in to the tv.just the irish channels she will receive once connected to an aerial.
