Renewing Insurance

    My insurance is up in feburary and im planning on heading to Canada in April/May. Anyone have any experience of renewing insurance for a couple of months, is this possible? Im with axa atm, must ring them but just wanted to ask here aswell.

    You will have to renew your policy as normal then when you are leaving the country just ring up to cancel. You will then be entitled toa rebate based on the length of time left on your policy less a cancellation fee.

    Quite right. The return of premium will be on a pro rata basis and should be well documented on the policy booklet provided to you by your insurer at the time of inception.

    May I enquire if the vehicle will be left insured in your absence? You can choose to "lay up" the car with your insurer, return the disk. The vehicle is still covered for fire theft etc but not RTA and you will still earn an NCB. You would also be entitled to a degree of your premium back too but have the peace of mind that your asset is covered in your absence.
