    Good news for CI and congrats to the board for pushing this forward. A good move and shows we are serious about a drug free sport here and not simply giving it lip service.

    Cycling Ireland has been informed in the past week that it has been accepted as a member of the Mouvement Pour un Cyclisme Credible (¡§MPCC¡¨).
    As a member Cycling Ireland agrees to implement anti-doping measures over and above those already required under the various anti-doping regulations. These additional measures will apply to national team selections and include:
    „h The non-selection of riders who have received corticosteroid treatment eight days prior to an event;
    „h The non-selection of riders on the announcement of a positive test result pending the final outcome;
    „h Not selecting riders who, following a breach of anti-doping rules, have been suspended for more than six months in the two year period following the suspension;
    In addition:
    „h UCI teams registering with Cycling Ireland will be required to affiliate to the MPCC;
    „h Cycling Ireland lends its support to the MPCC¡¦s call for increased penalties, including a four year ban, for the use of heavy doping products or methods.
