LPG bulk storage tank

    Hi i was wondering why in the UK after your inital contract runs out with your LPG supplier you can switch suppliers and they then look after the tank but that doesnt seem to be the case here in Ireland, any reason why ?

    Also is it getting to the stage that LPG would be on par cost wise with oil because of the price of lpg and a high efficency modulating gas boiler?

    i don't know about the uk but over here the LPG supplier owns the tank and the customer rents it off them.

    That's why only the original supplier may fill the tank.

    At the moment if like for like, ie: he boiler with controls, the oil will work out a little cheaper but if replacing a se oil boiler for he gas boiler with controls it will be much cheaper to run than what was there.

    The 2 major advantages of gas over oil is
    1) nobody can come and rob your gas. With the increase in recent years of oil theft that's a big one.

    2) with gas you can add gas fires, gas cooking, gas stoves, gas tumble dryer etc with little more effort or cost above the cost of the appliance.

    The other thing with gas is you can pay monthly on a budget plan and at the moment there is good deals with the suppliers to entice people to change over
