Is the badge recessed into the bodywork?

If so do you care if the recess remains?

    Otherwise.

A gentle heat with a heat gun.
Some panel wipe or alcohol wipe.
Wipe until remaining glue is gone.

Don't get excited with the heat gun and melt your paint. You just want to soften the glue.

There are loads of great demos and step by step guides on youtube, man. Good luck with it. :)

Assuming the badge is just flush on the boot just use a Stanley blade. The smallest one though and slowly and carefully drag it under the badge.....i don't know if its the correct way to do it but this is how i learnt.... Also to remove the remnants of the glue use a heat gun. If there is a shadow after the glue is gone use a small amount of diesel torrmove this.

It was a long time since i have done it though so please verify this so as not to ruin your car...

In lieu of a heat gun I used a hairdryer and dental floss to remove the badges.
Used holts tar remover to get rid of the glue that remained.

Are we seeing the birth of another RS4 1.9TDI?!

Great tip about the dental floss, works for a multitude..

i use the plastic spreader you get with isopon filler then a toffee wheel like the pic below in an air drill it takes off all the glue and does not damage the paint at all, 2 minute job at the most ;) you can get the wheels in most motor factors as well

Best suggestion here don't go near your paint work with a stanley blade

I have used the above method on countless cars with excellent results, only difference as i used sewing thread and autosmart tardis tar remover.

I did it with just fishing line and a cloth to take off the glue at the end. It came out perfectly, I wouldn't go near a blade !

I boil a kettle and pour the water over the badge, it melts the glue. Can usually just pull the badge off then. Small bit of petrol on a cloth to remove excess glue, followed by a wipe down with some water.

    Two minute job!
