I am looking at the moment at building a list of prehaps 10 to 20 riders who can break out in 2013 and make a name for themselves.

First on my list is Salvatore Pucci

got few others on my list including Sep vanmarcke who is not gone to Blanco Giant.

Looking for riders under 25 really, without world tour victory and with the major teams or one that will race the big races.

Shane Stokes has already pointed out Lachlan Morton, but he seems like one to watch for sure!

in cyclocross this season Lars van der Haar has done really well, so at the worlds at the start of Feb he might pull off something!

I'm assuming we are counting out Peter Sagan in this one? If we are it'd be very harsh considering the man is still only 22 and had his first tour this year. I expect big things of him in 2012.

yes i would not count him in this the obvious choice really, lets not forgot his dominance of the tour of Sagan (suisse), california, he also had top 5s in Gent, flanders. amstel and san remo, all results of an established pro.

    Eoin Mullen

    http://www.stickybottle.com/track/mullen-equals-sprint-best-at-world-cup-meets-olympic-champ-in-head-to-head/

he's already world class, considering he's only been in serious training a couple of years now. hopefully he keeps going to the top.

    for comparison
flying 200m TT out of 45 competitors
10 Philip Hindes (GBr) Great Britain 10.309 *has a team sprint gold from London'12 Olympics, age 20
15 Eoin Mullen (Irl) Ireland 10.446, age 19

    Moreno Moser

The Tour de Pologne was his biggest victory this year, not bad for a neo-pro.
His uncle Francesco Moser was an animal in the classics and tts so the genetics lottery should be in his favour.

Well its said doping and steroids let you throw the rule book out the window so it does feel like a great blue ocean lies before the sport in the new few years.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_onBx2ZSHA

Its cheesy but a bit of crack. Fran Moser was at the end of his career here but you can see how elegant he was on the bike, his pedal stroke was so smooth

cheese for the intro anyway, but yeah moser was prefect on the bike.

Another races that could really blow up racing is Betancur who got a nice move to ag2r.

Season is not far away now

    Roman Bardet and Thibot Pinot

@ 20 and 22 respectively both have shown great potential at climbing.

Bardet was 4th in the Tour of Turkey and was the strongest in a prominent breakaway in the Amstel Gold this year, and remained at the business end of the race when he was caught. Pity though he's in a ****e team Ag2r needs to get out once the other teams start to pay attention.

I suppose Thibot Pinot is rather obvious, but I'm really excited to see what he's capable of next year. If he fulfils his promise he could put French cycling back on the map

Can't believe we forgot Thomas De Gendt. A top 3 in his second or third Grand tour, one to watch for sure.

Looking forward to seeing what Gediminas Bagdonas will get up, how he will be used and how he will perform in his role for AG2R.Nice to see he finally made pro tour status.

I think he's already confirmed his talent with that result and with his consistent showings in Paris-Nice the past years. It would be interesting if he could try a lone break in the Tour next year.

Stybie has already confirmed his talent in cyclocross and he is old enough (27), but it might be interesting to see how he will perform in the Omloop this year as it will be his first big attempt at road racing and the spring classics

Agree on De Gendt has delivered already excellent in time trials too so could grab a grand tour win.

Pinot i suppose is funny one, really came good at biggest race unusual for someone so young normally peak for smaller races

Watch out drombrowski is in sky team as they go to Oman, but looks like most of his work this year will be as a climbing domestic
