hey all, my Polar S710 is on its last legs, going a bit senile (my Max HR today was 202, not bad, eh?), it's been great for many years/kms, but its time to replace it.
What I'm looking for is a wrist unit, bike functions (speed, distance, etc., don't really care about cadence, tho), GPS would be nice, for capturing route, etc., up-link capability
Anyone got any recommendations? Polar RCX5, Garmin?

You can't go wrong with a Garmin Edge 500. I've had mine 18 months and it's been great. I got the bundle with the HRM and cadence sensor and only fitted the cadence sensor last week for use on my new rollers and haven't tried it on the road yet, but its all very easy to set up and use

thanks for the heads-up, the 500 looks good, but I prefer a watch format, any experience of the Garmin 910XT, pricey, but if it lasts the 10yrs the Polar did, I can justify it to swmbo...

I use Strava for Android with an ANT+ heart rate monitor. I also have a computer on the bike with an altimiter (no GPS), while there's a difference in distance it's not that much over a long spin or segments longer that 2km, the difference in meters climbed and max-speed are more significant, but still not that much. The direct upload to strava over wifi is painless, don't think I'd be as diligent uploading from a Garmin if I had to connect it to a PC first every time
