No idea if its a good car or not, but just to say its a beauty. Lovely design.

And I am sure that since its an Audi, it'll drive well and be reliable too.

It's an A4 with 2 doors. He won't find much of a difference in driving it or sitting in it.

If he likes the looks, then go for it.

How it'll compare to his A4 to drive will depend on what engine he gets.

definetly a great looking car, the 3 series coupe would be a better drive though... Just reading the above comment, Im fairly sure the ride and handling arent great from what I have read, also heard that audi's steering can be very vague...

The ride's fine, probably better than the 3 Series Coupe. The handling will be better on the 3.

The steering's ok, but make sure the car has Servotronic. It might be standard, but make sure.

I loved the a5 when it came out first but kinda gone off it now. I think it is because nearly every guy I see driving one looks like they are too big to sit in the cabin.

The roof is quite low in them and most guys look like they are cramped in there. It is mostly a girls/ladies car to me now.

If the budget can stretch then look at the a7.

As with any two-door coupe he should remember that the doors are bigger so he might not be able to open them enough in a tight parking space. It sounds like a minor point but believe me, it can be a major PITA especially if the car is used mainly in town.

There is also the A5 Sportback which is a 4/5 door version of the same thing. I sat in the back of one for several hundred miles over three days last summer and I can testify that it was very comfortable.

I have an 2008 A5 3.0L - I really like it. Lovely drive. However make sure you buy it from a decent garage with decent warranty 1year+. I have had mine back to the garage a couple of times with issues with the alternator, within 6 months of buying it. Have also heard from another A5 owner that they can be troublesome, he had problem with clutch (I think) - so he sold it on. Was speaking to the Audi garage in Galway and they mentioned that Audi are now running some lifetime warranty on Audi parts - which sounds handy! But I haven't seen it anywhere on the Audi website yet.

I'd say go drive it and the A6. I had my heart set on the A5 until I sat in it, they've somehow made the cabin very claustrophobic, and it's true about the doors, they're huge if you're in a tight spot. Very lovely car to look at though.

I ended up getting the A6, much roomier car and nicer extras. Depends on what you're looking for really. I'm still holding onto my requirement for manual, so the A7 wouldn't suit (all the new ones are auto anyway). The A6 3.0 V6 in manual will get you where you're going :-)

if he is getting it, it'll be good to make sure to get the 170 or 177 bhp version of 2.0tdi..

The smallest 2.0TDi engine in the A5 is 170bhp afaik.

I thought so and certainly it was the smallest available in the coupe but I see alot of listings for 143 bhp sportback A5s. Im presuming they are not mistakes.

Having an A5 myself, I would suggest an A6 to the OP
