Struggling to cope

    Hi there.

Going unreg for this one. I am just looking for some advice.
I have a lot going on in my life at the moment and am finding it hard to cope.

Basically there are a few issues:

My granddad was admitted to hospital 8 weeks ago with abdominal pain. We have now discovered he has stage 4 cancer and isn't going to make it. He can't have chemo due to underlying health issues and his heart not being strong enough. This is a massive shock to all of us in the family. I've always been close to my granddad, he used to take me everywhere when I was little. He's not that old, 62 and this has just come on all of a sudden.

I've also been in a relationship for about 5 years and am having doubts. I have some feelings for someone else, but mostly I feel sort of bored with the relationship, but whenever I think about ending it I get all panicked and anxious inside, like I am making a mistake. Also, my partner is really dependent and has some mental health issues so I'm scared to break it off.

My work life is quite stressful and this causes me a lot of anxiety. I'm also considering a change of course in college because i'm not really interested in my course anymore and feel like finishing it would be a waste. I'm scared to move to a new college and start again though, I feel like I would be isolated. I know a lot of people in my college now and am never alone.

I feel like talking to someone about all of these issues would be helpful. Would I go and talk to a counsellor or something?

<Mod Snip: Posters cannot recommend specific counsellors. You need to go to your own GP, and ask.>
How much would i expect to pay for a counselling session?

Any advice would be much appreciated. I'm falling apart inside and struggling to keep it together.

    Thanks

Also does anyone know any counsellors in the dublin or wicklow area that are low cost? How much would i expect to pay for a counselling session?

You poor thing that's a lot to cope with. Thinking of you and your poor granddad it must be so tough.

There should be a counsellor in college that's either free or at a reduced rate?! Check it out anyway or your gp should give you some recommendations.

Good luck and I hope things improve. X
