I've been on JSA for over twelve months and qualify for Revenue Job Assist with my employer.
I've just been offered a great job that I can actually use my degree in and salary is euro 23,000.

I've tried all the different calculators and keep getting different answers!

I don't have time to call into an accountant before tomorrow.

I'm not sure how my take home pay will differ with Revenue Job Assist.
If anyone out there is kind enough to help me, I would be truly greatful!!
Even pm me your details and I'll get you a Christmas gift.

I have to accept/decline job tomorrow and would love to know exactly what my salary will be..

    Thanks a million.

    Hi GavSmith,
Have a look here: http://www.revenue.ie/en/tax/it/credits/revenue-job-assist-faqs.pdf. Point 7 on refers to your situation. The allowance for the given year is deducted from your earnings from the qualifying job, and tax is deducted from the remainder as normal.
It'd make the most sense for you to start claiming the allowance in 2013.
Hope that helps, and best of luck with the job!

Thanks, I've printed out all the forms, read through them and I still don't get it... I have no idea when it comes to tax, forms etc.. useless as my girlfriend says!!

If I had more time, I would have rang/made appt with someone and gone through it.

OK, so OP, I've taken pity on you...
It sounds like, based on the info and assuming you've no kids or other income...
    Year 1 (2013) = €23k-3810=€19,190 taxable income
19190 @ 20% tax = €3,838 Minus your single person's tax credits (which equal €3,300 for 2013) = PAYE to be paid over the course of the year of €538 (or a little over €10 PAYE per week).

In year 2 you'll have less of an allowance from Job Assist, so assuming no changes in circumstances, income, tax credits etc, you'll pay an additional €5 PAYE per week aprox.

Year 3 will be the final year you'll get the Job Assist - you'll pay an additional €5 paye per week again on top of what you paid in year 2.

You'll also be paying PRSI of about 4% of your total income and roughly €18 per week USC.

A word of warning on this tho - I seem to recall the Min for Finance saying something in his budget speech about changing this scheme. Not sure if anything's come of that yet, but perhaps another poster might know more?

Another wee question if anyone knows.
I sent off the revenue form today when the decision was finally made on my salary. Is that time enough for revenue to process? I start my new job on the 2nd Jan.. God help me, I don't get paid until the end of the month! Don't know what I will do until then ;)
