    Does anybody know if you can cash a dole cheque in the post office?

    Yes you can but prepare for a torrent of abuse.

    If its value is below 1,200 euros, yes.

    If its value is above that it MUST be lodged into the addressed persons bank account.

    You have to cash it in a Post Office in your postal district. The same way that a payment on a swipe card is only loaded up to the computer in one Post Office.

    Mad, never heard of getting a cheque from the dole.
    It's usually €50's.

    I thought you universally had to put them straight into a bank account since about 5 years ago...?
