09 Zetec Mondeo with 67Km and FFSH is €9K cash or my 05 Saab 93 1.8T with 41K miles and €5.5K

Guess it's do I want the hassle of trying to sell my Saab and make more than €3.5K!!

    Any thoughts?

If you think you can sell the Saab then it will probably be the cheapest route.

If you think you can sell the Saab for more than 3.5k then why not. But then again you might be sitting on it for a while unless someone comes in for it quickly.

    Mondeo is petrol.
I could probably get more for the Saab selling it myself however might only be a bit more and could take months! Also the hassle of having two cars etc, insurance for taking it out for viewing etc...

The ad will cost you 3 quid on donedeal, you have no idea of how long it will take to sell it, so saying it could take months is a bit extreme.
Clean the car inside and out, take a couple of hours, it will be worth a few K euro to you for a little bit of hassle.
If its not sold in a few weeks then you trade it.

If its the 1.6 litre petrol its going to be a very underpowered engine, if you are doing short journeys then you won't need it, but long journeys will be slow on the pickup and probably low on the mpg.

    Good luck with the sale.

I was being on the pestimistic side saying months!

I guess it just comes down to do I want the hassle of trying to sell it in the New Year.

The Mondeo to me is a good deal so not sure how long the car will be around. Is a 2.0L so power should be ok (am not a boy racer so not worried about it being quick).

The Saab is in very good condition so would hopefully sell however you never know with large petrol engines these days.

    Is this the car?

Its down to right place, right time :)

Some people aren't very put off by large engines. Are them petrol engines thirsty beasts? What sort of MPG will you get or does that bother you much?

Plenty of time now next week to get the Saab cleaned and polished :)

Thats the one. I'd say they probably arent great however not that worried as dont do a lot of miles.

I know, as I said it just comes down to do I want the hassle of having to sell it.

Out of interest, what does the Mondeo offer you that the SAAB doesn't?

Selling the saab could be hard. I sold an 05 1.8i Vector for less than €3500 and it took a long time to sell it.

This is what I am afraid of. I have emailed a couple of those we but cars for cash garages so will see what they say.

I wouldn't buy a Ford for reliability if that's the number one thing your after.

Everyone I know who has one has had very few problems and not heard of any major issues, especially on the petrol ones.

I had a 2005 Petrol Focus and it gave me awful hassle, maybe the newer ones are better? I had shocking trouble with coils and water leaking into the interior. The cat went but that was as a result of the coil going I suppose. None of my friends will ever go near them again after their experiences:)

I suppose its just what we have dealt with ourselves, I wouldn't look anywhere other than the VAG group these days, I have had perfect reliability since moving to VW.

Each to their own I suppose, I wish you the best of luck with it :)

Was it a new model one (at the time)?

I think most manufactors have issues with new models and then fix these over time. I'm hoping that as this model Mondeo came out in 2007 that any known issues were fixed by 2009 :)

Yes actually it was the mk2 focus that was only 6 months on the showroom floor at that stage which is actually a good point. Hardly time for a revamp :)

After 2 years you should be ok actually :)
