    Hi all,

    I've had this band recommended to me when the band we wanted was not available for our date. I cant seem to find much info on them though except that they are a 10 piece. The one review I found was quite complimentary, but I'd like to get a few more opinions all the same. If you have any experience first hand, or video links etc, i'd be grateful if you'd send them on.

    even though some bands might not have a dedicated website, any band trying work professionally have to have some sort of online prescence, either through youtube or facebook or agency piggy backing or they wouldnt be working much. A 10 piece band would be unusual as well.
    but in this case, unless my goggling skills have completey deserted me, other than a couple of random requests for info on them on message boards theres nothing out there on them. its possible they maybe known as another name though, which can happen, so Id suggest going back to the person who recommended them to you, ask where did they see them, and try to get a contact that way. let us know if you find them.

    Hi there

    Was at a showcase for them last night and have to say I was blown away.

    Big sound and the lead singer has a big personality!

    We have paid a deposit for them so reckon they'll be one of the highlights of the day.

    Hi.

    I just saw this post. Hot Topic have been playing some showcases at DTwo on Harcourt Street lately. Our website isn't fully up and running yet. You should come along to a showcase and check us out. We've three wonderful singers and a fantastic brass section. Not to mention the tightest rhythm section you'll likely hear! We play everything, disco, soul, funk, rock, pop, Swing and can include special requests. Apologies for the lateness in this reply.

    <snip>

    Other then saying bad things, can you say what happened?

    Most band lineups change all the time. especially in 10 pieces. some go on holidays. some are playing with other bands. some leave.
    The format and the music should stay the same though. ie, if you book a band with a brass section, that's what you should get. Did you not get that?

    Not all bands change their line up “all the time”.

    reread my post. I said "most". Are you suggesting theres a number of bands out there that have never had someone away for some unforeseen reason?

    Getting deps in is an inevitability due to life. Things happens, musicians call in sick too, but the show must go on so you get a dep in, depending on whos available you may be lucky or unlucky. While there are some poor players, There is an awful lot of talent out there though who can stand in at short notice and play any one of a thousand songs.

    The thing to do is explain that something unforeseen happened and if they happen to notice theres a different guitar player then theres a genuine reason for it but not to worry as he's stood in with us before, is top notch, and you wont notice any difference in playing.

    I can understand if a B&G booked a band with 10 players and only 8 turned up with 6 different from the time they seen them. My point about changin players all the time was not about that.
