Non-union employment advice for public sector worker?

    Hi,

I'm a public sector worker. Our management have done something pay-related that we find very questionable.

There are a few of us who are not union-members (no plans to be either) and we are wondering where we might get some advice on the situation?

HR are not an option at this stage.

Are there any independent bodies that might give advice? I'm assuming the Revenue wouldn't get involved as it would be a blue-on-blue so to speak.

    Thanks

A lawyer would be a good start.
Or you could post some more details on here and maybe somebody can provide an interesting viewpoint / opinion.
Generally, the question is whether it breaches your contact.

I work in payroll if you want to bounce it off me then I'm happy to give you some feedback. Please note though that I'm not a legal expert so I can't give you a legal advice on it.

I have a very strong knowledge of public (and private) sector payroll though and may have come across the scenario before or may be able to answer your question depeding on what its in relation to.

E.g. a common area thats raising a lot of questions at the moment (both private and public sector) is in relation to taxable illness benefit.

If you want to drop me an email even just mentioning the area that your query relates to I'll be able to tell you if I can help or not.
