finding provisional expiry date

I got my provisional licene years ago and its since been lost to god knows where. I want to renew it now but im not sure if it expired 5 or more years ago so I might end up having to resit my theory test. Does anyone know how I can go about finding the expiry date (motor tax office?) Cheers

Ring your local MT0 and explain the situation. You'll probably have to give your details .i.e Name, Dob etc... and they tell you if it's expired more than 5 years years.
