Wedding presents left in taxi

So my brother who was the best man at a wedding on Friday night, left some of the wedding presents in the boot of a taxi. The taxi picked him up on Ormond quay lower, directly across from the Millennium bridge around 2am Saturday morning. He flagged it down as he walked out of Bloom lane (the Italian Quarter) (http://goo.gl/maps/rJsS9) and got out of the taxi just outside the sugar club on lesson street (http://goo.gl/maps/uh4Tg). He never took a receipt, doesn't know the make/model of the taxi, nothing.

Obviously we have done everything we can. Reported it to the Guards, called the taxi carriage office, retraced his steps, tried to get CCTV footage but its all turned up nothing.

Its now 4pm on Sunday (36+ hours after the event) and still no sign of the presents. We are contacting the carriage office every 4 or 5 hours to see if anything has been handed in.

    Anyone got any suggestions?

Also, can someone let me know if this is the correct forum to post this in?

The Joe Duffy show? There was an almost identical item on a couple of weeks ago.
