I'm no expert on the model in question, but it looks right to me TH.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

That looks to be a nice example. Love the bracelet.

My first inclination is to search the Ofrei website as they should give you the model nos that the 725 bracelet end links were designed for. You can then search online using the Omega number for other examples. There is also the Omega Museum database, the link to which is a little hard to find; once I'm on a proper PC I'll see if I can post the link. I am no Omega expert but this would be one line of enquiry; the other would be to post a link on TZ-UK and ask for opinions as there are a couple of Omega experts on there.

Cheers all. I am like a little kid waiting for Santa to come. I hope it gets delivered this week. I will indeed check the various databases to determine if the case is matched to the internal cal number etc.

One last question - I have heard that simichrome is great for getting the metal on these old watches back to pristine condition. Anyone know if this can be bought in a bricks and mortar shop in Ireland? Or is there an alternative product you would recommend?

I would do your research very carefully as you want to be sure what the original finishes were. A polished finish is easy and a starting point is a Cape Cod polishing cloth however if there are deeper gouges you will probably need some sort of polishing wheel - personally I'd normally prefer to outsource anything other than what can be achieved with a Cape Cod. If there are brushed surfaces then I would definitely put it in the hands of somebody else. You really want to get it right first time as you are potentially removing metal with each iteration.

    Here's the Omega database link:

Classic looks can`t go wrong with it. Not sure if the bracelet is original though...

Make sure you get the watch serviced in every two years. Early 1000 series movements are badly service dependent.

The finish of the case and the bracelet looks fine to me. I would lightly clean the watch with toothpaste and toothbrush. After polishing the outside with Autosol polishing paste. (you can get in Halfords). It does wonders on both the stainless steel and both on the acrylic crystal...
