    Hi,

My mum is looking to get an iphone for my sister as a present but she lives in england. Is it possible to buy an iphone here and for her to get a SIM for it over in England or would you have to sign up to a contract for her?

I've heard there can be problems with unlocking a phone but unsure of what they actually are....

It wont be an issue. you can buy them unlocked from the apple store as far as I know.
