As the title states I bought a compaq presario cq61 and worked fine for about 2 hours. Now after that 2 hours I constantly froze and got stuck ( wasn't able to use it as everything froze ) I factory installed windows 7 again on it and again for 2 hours it was fine the again it started freezing again. Then I installed windows 7 one last time and deleted everything ad still nothing.

It freezes unusually after 20mins use.
Please if anyone can help it would be most useful

It's quite possible that your hard drive has had it. It's an older laptop so I am guessing that it's second hand. You may not have much comeback, however I imagine that you are going to run into a second problem. I guess the way you re installed windows was by using the recovery partition on the hard drive (back to factory settings). If you replace the hard drive, you won't have that partition. You may be able to get your hands on a copy of windows 7 home premium but you will need the product key that's underneath. Is that key still legible?
I think you should start by checking your hard drive for errors

Hi thanks for your response. I performed lots if tests and nothing came up as an error. I turned it on today and it said I was overheating. Is the why it keeps on freezing? If so can it be fixed?
    I bought it second hand
    It's a compaq presario cq61

CQ61 models could be 4-5 years old at this stage. Where'd you buy it from?

Is the fan kicking in? Check to see if the fan / vents are clogged, if you can get thermal paste clean the processor, gpu and heat sink, then apply new paste.

I had a similar problem, although it was a Acer laptop. It may sound surprising but the solution was to take out the battery and run from mains alone. Not a great solution but at least I could continue to use the laptop.
