Hey there, I'm a sixth year student and am considering going to either UCD or TCD for HistPol or a History and English combination (TSM).
I'm wondering what your opinion on the college is, from atmosphere, to faculty and staff, facilities, location, campus, anything you can pass comment on.
Any help is very much appreciated.

If you search around with the course you're interested in, there might be a UCD vs. TCD thread on it already, the above are slightly general ones.

Honestly, and this is very general, Trinity is a great place if you are very academic, into reading, current affairs, science, etc.

If you are into sport, or are a bit of a messer that doesn't take a huge interest in study, it's not so good.

Would people think this is fair I wonder?

Not sure if that automatically means that UCD or any university is right for you if you were of that mind...

They like it if you pass exams, think independently and show up for the odd lecture (attendance can be monitored in some courses). That stands for every third level institute in the country.
It is city centre, cricket pitch (aka sunbathing area, knacker drinking area), football field etc - bit like the TARDIS, bigger on the inside than appears from outside. There are multiple societies to join, so if you're a gay film buff who is into fencing it is probably the place to go.

True, but there is a difference... Walk around UCD campus and you have to dodge slioters and footballs, and the astro-turfs are nearly always in use, a lot different to the atmosphere in Trinity.

I've been a student at both TCD and UCD. Haven't found much difference at all. UCD is a much bigger college with a bigger campus...and TCD is handier to get to. Either way g'luck with it.
