Touch screen not working in a patch on screen.... anything I can do?

    I have an Orange Monte Carlo phone. It's not Rom'ed etc . Lately the screen has been acting up. The lower left hand side has become insensitive to touch making it near impossible/very frustrating to text with. I'll try to return it but I don't know how that'll go down as it's only one patch that's not working (unfortunately the patch over the "a" key).
    Is there anything I should try to fix it?

    If you can't return it under warranty then a replacement lcd / digitizer is cheap enough.

    Not fixes but workarounds :install a different keyboard, moving the 'a' position. Or rotate the screen so you can swap between a large keyboard and a smaller one.:D

    Thank you both for responding.

    Yeah that would be an awkward possibility but several text entry spots seem to delete text when I change from portrait to landscape. Also I have tried lots of other keyboards and end up with the same trouble. As this has only happened recently I'd rather either find a fix or return it in case it spreads across the screen further.
