RIP Páidí. Just read a story about him and said I would share it :

When he played Dublin for the first time in Croke Park as a 17 year old the Dub marking him asked him 'did he come up on the bus or the train'. Ó Sé hit him a haymaker. When the Dub came back to his senses the bold Páidí asked him 'were you hit by a bus or a train'.

A great footballer and supporter of GAA. Hard to believe. Am I correct in saying that his brother died young also?

Yes and in the exact same way. Suffered a heart attack without any previous illness. Devastating news for Kerry people and anyone remotely connected to the GAA.

Yes, his brother Micheal, father of Darragh, Tomas and Marc, died suddenly in 2002, was in his 50's as far as I recall.

RIP Paidi- it's an overused phrase but Ni bheidh a leithead aris ann.

A Kerry legend through and through both as a Player and a manager. 57 is so young to die, and he would have been considered fit enough considering all the training he would have done.

    RIP Paidi

A legend in the GAA world.

The story in Donegal is about the Donegal man going down to Kerry in the 70's and him saying how Donegal will win the All Ireland soon. Whether it was Paidi or a helpful regular he was told "when Donegal win an All Ireland, the Queen will present the Sam Maguire".

I think they thought there was more chance of Lizzy doing the honours than a Donegal man bringing Sam home, never mind once, but twice. Paidi I'm sure would have enjoyed the joke backfiring on him.

Mad Men's Don Draper : What you call love was invented by guys like me, to sell nylons.

I'm happy someone made this thread. I looked in earlier on when i heard, and there was nothing.

Possibly one of the last great Irish in Ireland, may he rest in peace.

Paidí ó Sé, a legend everyone heard about, not everyone knew his greatness.

R.I.P. I hope he is teaching them all how to play. :)
