Looking for some recommendations for summer tyres, (18/40/225) would like to go for goodyear eagle f1 asymmetric 2's all round but they seem fairly noisy by that review, I usually go for Vredestein which I've found for 133 and seem a lot quieter than the goodyears. I'd like to get a decent brand.

The Goodyears arent noisey, maybe not as quiet as an ultra quiet tyre, but there isnt anything "wrong" about the noise. Given their stellar performance in every other metric, you really going to not get the best tyre due to not being the very quietest (still scoring 96% in the noise test)!?

    Tyre Test Results:
    1st: 2011 Subjective shootout - 255/40 R19 Max Performance Summer Tyres (255/40 R19)
1st: 2011 Auto Express Ultra High Performance Tyre Test (225/45 R17)
1st: 2012 Auto Bild Max Performance Tyre Test (225/45 R17)
2nd: 2011 Auto Zeitung Max Performance Tyre Test (225/45 R17)
    2nd: 2012 Autobild 50 Tyre Braking Test (225/45 R17)
    2nd: 2012 Sport Auto Summer Tyre Test (235/35 R19)
    2nd: 2012 EVO Summer Tyre Test (225/45 R17)
    3rd: 2012 EVO Max Performance Tyre Test (235/40 R18)

There are tyres that are better at specific metrics for sure, but the Goodyear As. 2 have consistent top class performance across the range of tests which is why they are considered the best "all round".

Dont confuse them with the older Goodyear Eagle (symmetric V type) tyre, totally different tyre other than name.

True, they are the best tyres out there, and only 126 euro a corner on camskils, was also looking at FULDA CARAT EXELERO for 129, its a no brainer I guess.

Well as an alternative that could well be cheaper, the Nokian Z G2 punches well above its "upper midrange" weight, ie beating the Eagle F1s in both Wet and Dry braking, which the Goodyear itself excels at.

While the winner might not have been a surprise, a very strong showing from Nokian with the Z G2 left the "premium midrange" tyre in a very close second place. Nokian is one of the highest rated winter tyre brands in the world, and this test proves they know how to make a summer tyre too. Commended for dynamic handling, low fuel consumption and short braking, the Z G2 is a tyre to watch (and use!) in the future.

Given the R&D resources they must be up against from the big 3, thats super impressive.
