I have bought from amazon.co.uk on many occasion, with no problem. I'm in the process of getting the presents for Xmas at the moment, and one of the pressie's is a 16 gb Ipod touch. I have an account, and went through the usual steps of adding the item to the basket, proceeding to checkout and select my dispatch add:mad:ress. Except when I selected my address, I was met with the " We're sorry. This item can't be shipped to your selected destination. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order by changing its quantity to 0 and clicking the update button below ." Can someone tell me why amazon can't ship ipods to Ireland, and is there another online seller that does?

Not sure about your questions, but using Parcel Motel's Belfast address should work for you :)

You can get one from apple.ie, or just use parcelmotel to get it from Amazon :)

I would guess your buying it from a third party seller on amazon. Pretty sure amazon thenselves do ship iPods here.

The type I'm buying is the 16gb, which amazon, are currently out of, but have a back order for the 22nd, which might not make it for Christmas. It is a third party, but it is " fullfilled by amazon ," which meant, I thought, that amazon looked after P+P?

No, it has to say "Dispatched from and sold by Amazon.co.uk..

Some marketplace sellers do ship to Ireland, but they charge a fortune for shipping. You may as well use Parcel Motel as it'll only cost you €3.50 (assuming of course there's one near where you live).

OP, clarify what response Amazon gave when you put your query to them.

Fufilled by Amazon means Amazon store and ship the orders. The shipping rates are the same as Amazon. However, by default fulfilled by Amazon accounts only ship to the UK. The seller has to select either Uk, Europe or Worldwide from there settings page. Alot of sellers dont realise this applies even when FBA. It is due to postage and export regulations

I see this all the time on amazon, and ebay. They charge a fortune. What's wrong with them? What's the big deal with shipping to Ireland? I've lost count the amount of times I didn't buy an item due to huge shipping costs.

For those who think sellers charge a fortune, what do you think is a fair price to charge for tracked delivery with insurance?

Did you try Pixmania? They have them too & would definitely deliver (can get express post option), or is there that much of a saving with Amazon?

This happens me all the time when I'm trying to buy books from the UK. Have you tried getting the item off of another 3rd party seller? Usually I've to try a few and pay a higher price :( plus it should tell you in the sellers pop up if they ship here.

It's really annoying especially when you go to the .ie address, also watch out for them automatically changing the currency from sterling to euro at the end always turns out dearer.

From the Uk to here? It depends on weight of course, but I'd have a heavy wallet if I got back all the money I've been overcharged over the years on ebay. When I sell I allow obviously the postage cost and then maybe a euro packaging? Unless I recycle..I don't charge for my time etc...but some sellers are a blatant rip off!
Hope that answers :) Don't wanna drag the thread OT!

And after signing up to parcel motel myself I'm gonna go with everyone here and use it A LOT!

An Ipod in retail packaging insured and trackable, how much is fair?

try sending an item from Ireland to UK - will be the same sort of charge.

Amazon themselves have a different system - all items are packed in one of their warehouse and everything for Ireland is collated together and sent as one single shipment to An Post sorting depot. So they pay per pallet of boxes (probably less than €50 and there could be 300+ items on that pallet) and then pay an post per individual item and at their volume, it will be much discounted from the price you would pay.

The markeplace sellers simply do not have the volume to do this (neither has any other store), so they must use the normal system for delivery to Ireland.
