Help me style a gold sequin skirt?

Hello,
I picked up this skirt last week half price for my birthday in Jan http://www.republic.co.uk/women/new-in/glamorous-sequin-mini-skirt-25530/ and plan to team it with a pair of heeled chelsea boots. Ive never worn gold in my life, or sequins, and sorta fed up with the way I dress on a night out..predictable. Im clueless as what to wear on top tho; and have trouble finding tops that fit; (Im slight but 28ff, v necks dont actually suit!) I have got some statement jewellery for round my neck but would love advice on any tops you would reckon would work?

The skirt has such a wow factor I think you should keep the top as simple as possible so go for neutral colours and a basic shape/cut. Here are some examples I found that I think show the sequin skirt is actually very versatile

I was going to suggest a soft, neutral coloured fitted knit to go with this. Would be very 'model off duty' casual but dressed up if you know what i mean!

Thanks everyone! Yeah I'd like it dressy for my birthday but I do plan to dress it down after! The one I got is on sale in Republic in silver and gold, but I didn't see silver in store. H and M have them in black and silver but I'm normally a size 8/10 and only fitted in a 12/14! Such a tiny fit.
Go get them! Look fab!

Me too. I initially thought it would be for a going out look but it looks great with jumpers etc as well. Do you think a day look with knee high boots would be nice?

Yes I would definitely wear it with knee high boots and dark tights.

I have a pair of tights like them - they are by Jonathan Aston, 40 denier and the colour is called Storm. Can't remember how much they were but I got them on sale and they are amazing quality.

Got them from some website, one of those ones you have to be invited to join, can't for the life of me think of the name of it, sorry!

Thanks everyone. I think I'll go for black for the night out as creams whites and beiges don't suit my skintone, which is a shame as I love the white top/black blazer combo. Will invest in another chunky knit for dress down occasions over the hols!
I'm in love with the skirt tho, ill admit it was seeing Alexa Chung wearing one with a grey/blue tee that got me hooked; it's effortless glam!
