Notice period

I am on 1 week notice. I wonder what should be the last day of my employment e.g.:

- if I give letter of resignation to my boss on Monday the 17th - should the last day be 24th?
- if I give such letter day later, on Tuesday the 18th - then last day happens during Christmas. In such a case is this OK to put 25th there, or should last date be working day?

Notice it says "week" means any period of seven consecutive days

So if we use this interpretation, if you gave notice at lunch time on Monday, you would have to work until lunch time the following Monday.

If any then I understand that it does not matter if last day is holiday or not. Thank you.

I like paragraph 10: "10.—(1) An employer who fails to comply with the provisions of section 9 of this Act shall be guilty of an offence under this section and shall be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding twenty-five pounds."

How does fine of 25 pounds translate into current money? Is it adjusted by inflation?
