VW Golf mk4..Need an Engine

    Hello all.

    I have just found out my mk4 Golf engine is a right off! Something to do with heaters plugs warping and destroying this pistons and shafts. Caused possible by bad diesel or by faulty heater plugs. Not really sure.

    So, now I'm looking for a new engine. The code of the old engine is ASV 110BHP diesel. It would be best to get an exact replacement I guessing? Cheaper and easier for the mechanic.

    I sent an E-Mail to Traynors in the north and used partsfinder.ie as well. Just wonder is there anywhere else I should try, maybe a VW specific dismantlers? Really want to shop around to get it has cheap as I can, not much cash with the time of the year and all that.

    Anyone care to but an estimate on how much an engine would be?

    I'm located in the North-west of Ireland.

    Dont bother emailing Traynors, get on the phone to them. Sorted me an ALH engine and delivered next day for free to Dublin or an extra €70 i think to Cork.
