Hey have heard of these guys. Before and know they are long time est. know they use to deal in pricey cars and where never cheap now they are dealing in more modest stock some of there prices seem too cheap and a lot of cars even recent ones don't appear to have fsh ? Hope they haven't gone down the same route as many other used dealers in Dublin ! Interested in the 06 golf gti they have

My brother bought an E90 off them 2 years ago. Car was immaculate, FSH, verifiable and fully service for collections. Provided with full Mapfre warranty for 12 months, which you dont get in many places, especially on a used car from a non main dealer.

Few problems with the car and all fixed without quibble, so yes if they had something i wanted at a price i was happy to pay, i would have no problem buying from them.

My father was in the trade and used to deal with them 20-30 years ago. Cars were always immaculate and fault free. He had no problem selling them on and never had an issue with any of them coming back ....

As far as I remember the whole operation was a tidy tight ship. Id have no problem buying a car off them now !

After 31 years in their warehouse like premises close to the city centre ( they did only take over an adjoining premises 10 years ago ) lambe & o connor have moved to Clonee .

Not sure if they were renting or owned previous premises and whether site is being sold/ redeveloped ? It seemed that their location far from M50 didn't do them any favours in recent years as other used dealers seemed to sell a lot more than them.

Older car enthusiasts may remember that these guys were the Beshoffs of the 80s and 90s and certainly made growing up in Dublin a less grim experience for an enthusiast - Honda nsx , Rolls Royce , Porsche and all manner of rarer models from the uk could be found in their ' alladins cave ' warehouse in a bad part of Dublin !

where their old premesis was is prime redevelopment/gentrification zone now, i'd say they sold the building for a very very tidy sum and can use it to build some sort of glass palace in a few years when land prices cool off again.

I wonder did they own it though ? didn't see any for sale sign last time I passed but then maybe its being sold vacant procession - I doubt they will bother spending on fancy premises.

the business is now in its 2nd generation , I get the impression that the 2nd generation are more careful/ conservative and also are not big petrolheads like Cecil and John were .

I remember around 1993 they bought in a red 1991 Honda NSX , they would drive around in it a bit - great sound ! - then reduce the price when it wasn't selling and sell off . Think they just liked having something special for themselves to drive.

sure thats probably half the reason anyone gets into performance car sales, rip around in something temporarily while a group finance scheme owns it, then even if you break even selling it you still have the smile on your face. I wouldnt even say its them being more conservative, just the public has become more conservative and all about shiney pcp financed silver bog spec boxes with new plates. They still have some nice stuff, Ive been lusting after a 2009 BMW 750i they have.

yes me too - the road tax is mad - only suited for chauffer work with tax like that.

in fairness they never bought in the souped up Range rovers and Ferraris etc. during boom years when lots of other dealers were being anything but conservative.
