Does anyone know of an ombudsman or a middle man who might be able to talk to these plebs in longford for me?

I've been trying countless times to find out when i should receive back pay of 42 weeks and they keep bouncing me around with different excuses and feeding me lies every day i call up.

For example; They told me they were awaiting something from my local community welfare officer and that nothing could be done until his account is closed from his end. I get in touch with him eventually and tells me that the account has been closed a fair number of weeks now and they should know everything thats going on because its on the screen in front of them.
Its as much they can do and give me the name of the person he was in correspondance with and said they should help in his eyes.

Rang up and told them the information which I found out and I'm being belittled being told that there are "Thousands of applications and what makes me think mine is anymore important than anyone elses." No I can't speak to the persons name who I gave and then was given some name of someone I would have to write to (because apparently they dont have a phone to call) and they hung up.

I couldnt believe it. I dont want the case to be rushed or anything, I never asked for that, only that I would like to know what stage it was at at the moment and how far along does it have left to go?
2 weeks ago someone in that department surprised me and said I would certainly have it for christmas and then said to check back in a week. Only for they said that I wouldnt be getting so flustered about it all.

Can anyone help or interject for me, does anyone know?

Your best bet is to make a complaint, outlining exactly what you were told and by whom. You'll be surprised how much that will expedite the process. I would refrain from calling them plebs though, I'm pretty sure an ombudsman would reject any complaint with that word in it!! :)

    42 weeks!

Send in an FoI request for all your personal data, give a date range and include which sections within the Dept have your info if possible.
It's free to do this, it might shed some light on what's going on in your file and explain the backlog.

Before going down the official complaints route I would explain situation to citizens information centre and request them to ring up on your behalf.

that is if there is a centre near you.
