Hi, is the bike section of the carpark in Heuston Station (Down to the end of the platform on the far right and through the gate) safe to lock up a bike with a Kryptonite Evolution Mini and cable all day tomorrow do you think?

Im doing a job out there across the road all day and need a safe spot, any other suggestions in the area if not? Cant take it with me and Ill need it aswell, thanks.

Honestly, I would be distracted thinking about the bike all day if I had to leave mine there however, saying that you're locking it up with the best. Just make sure you either bring with you or lock down anything easily removable from the bike and I imagine it will be fine if it's only for the day.

I think I'd lock up by the Eircom building and walk back to Heuston. There are quite a few bike parked there, so there's some safety in numbers, and I think thieves target bike parking adjacent to railway stations and cinemas, since it's a fair bet that the owner is away for a few hours.

Do bikes go missing from there though? Don't think Ive ever seen it mentioned in the Stolen Bikes thread.

As nice as the folk who usually grace this forum are I think advertising your bike's abandoned whereabouts during a given timeframe is probably not a good idea on the internet :)

Maybe the place where you are working will have a more secure area you could use?

A friend of mine cycles from Heuston to work daily, so the bike is left there from early evening until the next morning. He averages 2 cheap hacks with Kryptonites a year. I wouldn't leave a nice bike there. Nearest safer spot I can think of would be in the grounds of St. Patricks up the road, or possibly in IMMA.

As I said, there are outdoor stands in Heuston South Quarter (Eircom building/Superquinn). Nearer than the IMMA. Also, some stands in the IMMA aren't secured to the ground properly.

The carpark at heuston is staffed 24hours a day, not that that has ever stopped a bike being knicked but better than nothing and with good locks a potential thief wont be afforded the time so they will go for the easy options

Alternatively like others have said Heuston South Quarter outside Superquinn there are bike racks, plenty of people and cameras so again might dissuade potential thiefs.

Both locations in my opinion are as safe as you are gonna get in public locations
