Robbie was a great raconteur, singer, songwriter, poet and proud Clare man. I had the pleasure of being at his 80th birthday celebration a few years ago and I met him again at a special showing of the film about his life - 'Last night as I lay dreaming' earlier this year.

I got to his funeral yesterday. Great dinging of all 11 verses of Spancilhill at the end of the mass by the whole congregation. Lyrics sheets were handed out.

I heard there was a mighty singing session in Duggan's Bar afterwards.

    He will be sorely missed.
