Have a 05 Skoda octavia tdi 1.9 Triptronic gearbox . The Problem is feels like there is a vibration coming from the the drivers front right. This only happens when doing between 40 to 60 mph . After 60 mph it goes away again.Need Help as was told it mite be a gearbox but my mechanic unsure and was hoping somebody out there mite be able to give me an idea as i don't want to have to spend 1500 plus on a new gear box if that ain't the problem:confused: any feedback would be great. Thanks

Its time for a new mechanic if youre reduced to asking people on the internet that havent seen the car.

Start with the basics, wheel balance, wheel bearings, sometimes the inner cv joints give trouble on dsg boxes.

For a vibration that come in at a certain speed and then goes again, the first and most obvious place to start is wheel balance as an out of balance wheel gives exactly these symptoms. Damaged CV joints or shafts tend to vibrate or be noisy all the time although they are still more likely to be the issue then the gearbox, especially if the vibration is only coming from one side.

...I just had the same issue with our old Saab 9-5 Auto.

I suspected: wheels, tyres, wheel bearings, CV joints, in that order.

It actually turned out to be the 'inner' joint (not a CV), on the intermediate shaft, in the bearing carrier, which takes the drive across the back of the block to the r.h.s. Not sure if the Skoda has the same arrangement, but it was an eye opener for me: if I was doing it myself, I'd still be looking for it...........my local Indy sorted out quickly.

I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
